An Afternoon at Fig's Barbershop
Harlem's importance as a center of black culture can never be overstated. One of the places that this importance is displayed prominently is in the myriad of barbershops dotting streets like Lenox Avenue, Frederick Douglass Boulevard, and Adam Clayton Boulevard. One Saturday in September, I visited Fig's Barbershop on the corner of 135th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard to see the talented barbers in action. Check out some of their handiwork.
