Dear Marc Ecko

Really, Marc?? Had to throw "Star Wars" in there to keep afloat?

via Racked:
Marc Ecko's ill-thought-out Chelsea boutique Marc Ecko Cut & Sew is done. This comes after Ecko closed down his Gramercy warehouse, and walked away from a space in Times Square that he had been paying rent on for four and a half years. The final nail in the coffin may have been the location, the down economy, Ecko's rumored bankruptcy or a combo of all three. One thing is for sure: the outlook is not good for Ecko's empire.

Everything that has a beginning has an end Marc. And it's looking like Ecko, one of the most recognized urban wear brands in the world is reaching the end of the line. Marc, not only did you completely fuck up by not even opening the flagship Times Square store, your cut and sew Chelsea location failed terribly. Are your clothes that bad? They couldn't be, considering myself and a good amount of friends were still wearing Ecko in like 2003. Now, however, to be caught dead in Ecko is like having a two-way pager, behind the times. Even your crowning achievement up to this point, Complex Magazine, which was a good publication, has fallen on hard times. Your last few issues have felt mighty skimpy lately and haven't had any content that seriously made my day. Plus the Complex Network (every blog you probably read) has more overlap than an origami. Seriously, Marc, it's time to re-think this whole Ecko thing and consolidate your efforts so that all your shit is straight. It doesn't make sense to keep diversifying your company if its putting out crap for almost 5 years straight. Hopefully you saved up that money from getting G-Unit under Ecko. Wait, that didn't make any money. Oh, recession, you never cease to amaze me...
