Freestyle Friday (7/16)

Last week, I left you guys high and dry with the Freestyle Friday post. This week, I've got three fresh ciphers for you to sink your teeth (ears) into. The first one is by Curren$y, as an exclusive for HardKnocks TV. I must say, Spitta is on another level right now. His flow and wordplay are entirely too tight, and I know he's surprising a lot of cats out there. Pilot Talk is in stores now, so he's probably still riding high off that. The second one is by AC, who's 'buzztape,' Send the Scouts Out, dropped yesterday (review on the way). It's on Crack Distributors Radio, so you've got to listen closely to drown out the background noise and hear all of the punchlines this guy has got. I think his style is a little corny, but he still has lines for days. The third one is by Laws, who raps over The Pharcyde's "Passing Me By" about his last day of working a 9-5 office job. I couldn't help but sympathize with the brother, though he actually quit his. The story is almost too real to be true. #shoutout to office blues that make everything else seem that much hotter. Whatever your employment status, check all the freestyles and keep it locked to Dear Whoever...

Freestyle Friday (4/9)

What's up people, it's Friday aka my favorite day and I've got freestyles on deck. The first one is from AC, making his 2nd appearance in as many weeks. This time he rhymes over Dirty Money's 'Hello, Good Morning' beat, and he rips it! He's got bars to spare in this cypher and hopefully more to come when his mixtape, 'Send the Scouts Out' drops. The second one is from Freddie Gibbs, who I wasn't impressed with as and XXL Freshman. That said he flows hard in this video for VladTV. Freddie shows his rapid-fire flow and gets at Vlad for not building with him earlier. The third freestyle is by Skeme. Now, Skeme was a name unknown to me before hearing this freestyle. Please believe I will be looking out for more from him. Skeme does it all over the 3 minute freestyle; punchlines, metaphors, you name it. That's it for this Friday. Haven't been posting this week, but I got you guys over the weekend...

Freestyle Friday (3/26)

Hey hey hey (Fat Albert voice), it's Freestyle Friday!!! Let's just cut to the chase, since I'm on my work computer and am not trying to get fired within my first week. We've got freestyles on deck today and both are virtual newcomers. The first one is from AC, who's hailing from Staten Island (I gave it the -___- at first too). He honestly has bars and does a good job of riding an interpolation of 'However Do You Want Me'. AC's also preparing to drop his mixtape 'Send the Scouts Out' soon. Hopefully, he's not a one-video wonder on the blogosphere (funny you can say that now). The second video is by GLC. Yeah, he's not a newbie to the game, but this is one of the first cuts I've heard from him going dolo in a freestyle. He sounds like he has a unique perspective on the game, being quite the street-dweller while hob-knobbing with the likes of Kanye and CuDi. GOOD Music might actually have a roster in the cut, much to my surprise. Regardless, check out the freestyles and keep it locked to Dear Whoever...

Emilio Sparks x Cloud Kicker - Kicks, Chicks & Porno Flicks

This is the type of togetherness in hip-hop that I dream of. Emilio Sparks, of 'The Emilio Sparks Experience,' a New York radio show, has put together a menagerie of up-and-comers in hip-hop to create the free album, 'Kicks, Chicks & Porno Flicks'. The release features the likes of Curt@!n$, Stalley, ESSO, Outasight, 6th Sense, AC, Donny Goines, and Nola Darling. I've reviewed a few of these cats, so when I saw their names associated with the album, I had to give it a listen. The tape has great production, mixed in with interviews from Emilio's radio show, which are HILARIOUS. It's amazing that Emilio could develop relationships with all of these artists, and bring them together on such an eclectic work. When I say eclectic, I mean that there is every type of sound you could imagine on a hip-hop work. Plus, the lyrics are on point on every song (I guess every artist put their best foot forward). I know half of you won't give this a listen, but if you want to hear the 'new wave' of hip-hop, hit the link above, and check the tracklist, #dopetracks, loosies, and videos...
