Freestyle Friday (8/27)

Hey, what's up people? It's Friday, so we've got freestyles, albeit a little late in the day. I'll keep it quick. The first cypher is by Ab-Liva and the Clipse on Shade 45. Let me tell you this: Pusha's verse (please tell me you know the difference between the two) is PIFF. I honestly don't know of any rappers in the game who can do coke raps like the Thornton brothers. The second freestyle is a relative newcomer, who I really don't have a lot of info on. Omen hails from Dreamville Records, the imprint of one of my favorites, J. Cole. He doesn't disappoint his flag in this freestyle to Jigga's 'Dear Summer'. Who knew Fayettenam was holding heaters like this? Check out both freestyles and keep it locked to Dear Whoever...

Check your pulse if you're not compelled to say EUGHCK! at least once daily...

Pusha T - Bidding War (The Ghost Of Christoper Wallace Freestyle)

Pusha T is releasing a solo mixtape. Go ahead, let that one marinate. In fact, I'll say it again... Pusha T is releasing a solo mixtape (recovers from heart attack) on September 14th, the same day as Kanye, CuDi and Big Sean. Not that the elder Thornton brother doesn't deserve his own showcase, but Pusha's always been my favorite. EUGHCK has become a mainstay in my vocabulary, and Pusha's rhymes don't disappoint either. Whatever the case, Miss Info hinted (not so subtly) that Kanye was going to be on board for Pusha's project. It sounds almost too good to be true, just like Pusha's freestyle over Jay Electronica's 'The Ghost of Christopher Wallace'. It's called 'Bidding War,' which may be an apt title if the younger Thornton's solo foray goes like I think it should. Check the new track...

Pusha T - Dearly Beloved

Coke raps are an acquired taste for many rap fans, yet most seem to agree (since Rick Ross' 'empire has crumbled) that the Clipse are the original Don Dadas of rapping about the white girl. Pusha T felt some type of way about the extradition of Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, whether by pure conviction or some sort of connection to it. Either way, he decided to put his feelings on wax, which is never a bad look. Diddy - Dirty Money's (anyone else getting confused as to their identity?) Angels is quickly becoming a go-to track for freestyles, and Pusha did a number on it, talking about the drug-dealing complex that pervade black communities and his own triumphs in such a game. I'm not going to lie... I let off a few #EUGHCK's after hearing this. #EUGHCK #EUGHCK #EUGHCK

The Clipse - Freedom (Video)

I love that the Clipse have embraced the art of releasing their material to the blogosphere, because videos like this are undeniably dope. I suppose when an artist or group gets older, like the Clipse, its harder to release videos that not only embody the music, but also the artists and the aesthetic they're going for. "Freedom" does that perfectly. In fact, it reminds me a lot of 'On to the Next One' in terms of the avant-garde black and white hip-hop video (how many of those are there??). Whatever the case, check out the video for 'Freedom'...

Clipse ft. Cam'ron & Pharrell - Popular Demand 'Popeyes'

Now, why hasn't Till the Casket Drops dropped yet? Your guess is as good as mine, yet somehow I think even with the pushbacks and leaks, the album is going to be immaculate. The Clipse and Pharrell have plaques and hundreds of playbacks written all over them, so you know the wait might just be worth it. Either way, the video is great. Cam eating while rapping is priceless...

Freestyle Friday (11/6)

What's up people? Freestyle Friday time. Get ready to have your ears in heaven with these two cyphers. The first one is from the Clipse, who pushed Till' The Casket Drops back AGAIN. I guess I can't be mad if they keep putting out material like this. Those two have taken drug raps and cocaine wordplay to another high (pun intended). The second one is from an oldie but goodie, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. They break out some of that Cleveland sound with fast, melodic delivery as usual, with a few punchlines in there, too. Check out both of these cyphers and keep it locked to Dear Whoever...

The Clipse - Popular Demand (ft. Cam'ron & Pharrell)

Popular Demand - The Clipse (ft. Cam'ron & Pharrell)

Dude, why do Malice and Pusha insist on pushing back Till the Casket Drops?? Tracks like this shouldn't be allowed to sit there and fizzle due to record label politics (see Jockin Jay-Z). Even Cam came through and blessed us with his dopest verse in a LONG time. I'm not going to mince words with this post. Listen to this track. GET READY FOR TILL THE CASKET DROPS!!! It drops in December (completely tentative)...
