B.o.B. - Fame

B.o.B. - Past My Shades (ft. Lupe Fiasco)

B.o.B. - Airplanes (Pt. 1) (ft. Hayley Williams)

B.o.B. - Airplanes (Pt. 2) (ft. Eminem & Hayley Williams)

I've never been quick to eat my words, but in all honesty, I can't hold back anymore. Bobby Ray is about to blow. Point. Blank. Period. Two top 10 iTunes downloads don't lie. Neither does the crossover potential of a track like Airplanes (Pt. 2). And neither do insane collabs with Lupe Fiasco and Eminem. The thing that impresses me about B.o.B. right now is that he's mastered his flow and is rapping like himself. We can't even compare him to 3 Stacks right now because he's already distinguished himself and found a lane. No, I'm not heralding the rebirth of hip-hop, but it's a bright sign to see an artist garner so much press right now, and have so much anticipation with him. Better yet, it's a bright sign to see more than one artist like that, with Drake and J. Cole gaining steam too. I don't like quoting myself, but this tweet couldn't be truer these days:

Freestyle Friday (9/25)

How's it going people? Today's Friday and that means only one thing: Freestyles brought to you from Dear Whoever. Last week we only had one cipher on deck, so this week we're bombarding you with them. Check these joints out, have a happy Friday and keep it locked to Dear Whoever...

This first one is from Lupe Fiasco (my favorite rapper, if you didn't know) over some track from Jay-Z (I forget the name). It's a live freestyle from a concert, so try and bear with the sound quality...

This second one is by Eminem on Tim Westwood TV, and it looks like Em is back on his dopeness (not the first half, though). I like this whole segment because it's sooo long. The only thing is all of the expletives are bleeped out (When are people gonna get over cursing?) Make sure you peep Alchemist in the background...

The last one is by Asher Roth (been bumping his stuff a lot lately) over some other random Jay-Z song. He really is one of the most eloquent MC's out right now. And he has such a distinct flow. I can't even put my finger on why his raps hit so hard, but it's impossible to deny how nice he is...

Dear Benzino

Benzino - Good Fellaz

No, no, no... Zino, have you lost your cotton picking mind? I thought writing this letter and that getting in that ass (pause) would be a feat of ultimate ease, but it still needed to be written. So you pronounce your disdain for blogs and the internet as a means for promoting music, and then send your music to blogs? That's like claiming to be a fair and balanced hip-hop magazine and having biased reviews for artists that you don't like!! Wait a minute, you already did that. Honestly, Zino, if your rap career wasn't over after your magazine got exposed and Eminem shat on you lyrically, it sure as hell isn't coming back any time soon. You're on the wrong side of 30 with NO buzz and never really had a rap career to speak of in the first place. Not to say that the track was whack (it was), but if you were going to come at someone you already lost to, you had to come harder than that. And what's good with dissing Slaughterhouse? If you were going for the numbers game, then you completely fucked up on this one. I can't even describe the internal laughter coming from my computer. I'll just end it the way you started it. See below...

Another nail in the coffin of an already dead career...

Forever (Remix) - Drake, Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & Eminem

Forever (Remix) - Drake, Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & Eminem

A song that got somewhat overlooked on an earlier mixtape gets turned into the biggest collab of the summer. I wonder how many months Hot 97 is gonna play this song for before I want to cut off my ears. If "Best I Ever Had" is any indicator, we might never get this out of our head...
