Kidz in the Hall - Pledge Allegiance to the Dope (ft. Curren$y & Mickey Halstead)

At this point in hip-hop, I'm happy to listen to any record whose title includes a different noun than 'swag'. That it's 'dope' on this new Kidz in the Hall cut doesn't do much more for me, yet such a nice track can do wonders for such a drab title. The Kidz are known more for Double-O's production than Naledge's mic skills, though it's the rapper that supersedes the producer here. Having heavyweights like Spitta and Mickey Halstead on the song doesn't hurt either, though after Curren$y raps, it's a bit of a letdown. Regardless, it's nice to hear from Kidz in the Hall. Been waiting on something new to jam to since 'Fresh Academy' and 'Out to Lunch'. Enjoy the loosie, people...

Kidz in the Hall - Grizzly Man (Video)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Kidz in the Hall are the most inconsistent group to me. Sometimes they put out heat rocks, and other times they toss out frisbees (subjective). This is the former. In this short video, we see Naledge waking up from a night of revelry and rapping about the ills of being on the road. He shouts out the ladies who hold him down, even if he might not see them again. I guess that's the definition of a grizzly man: a lady slayer. One question though: where's Double-O?? I guess the directors weren't really feeling his hair lately. Would you put him in the video?

Since when has it been OK for a dude to rock the Farrah Fawcett??

Kidz in the Hall - Fresh Academy (ft. Chip tha Ripper & DONNIS)

I'm just gonna come out right and say it: I have the biggest love-hate relationship with Kidz in the Hall. Sometimes their songs are catchy, sound good, have good verses and features that make sense. Other times, they get too experimental and have weak-ass bars. In this case, I see the former. The Kidz teamed up with DONNIS and Chip Tha Ripper for the track 'Fresh Academy' off their new album 'Land of Make Believe', and decided to keep it in the telly for the video. I can't say that the concept is anything remotely original or innovative, but it worked out pretty well. One thing I have to contest is Double-O's hair in the video. Nothing says hip-hop like a Farrah Fawcett do in a rap video. Follicular foibles aside, the video does the song justice...

Kidz in the Hall - Out to Lunch (ft. The Kid Daytona)

I looked over this one at first, simply because I haven't been feeling KITH as of late. If it wasn't for Double-O's beats, I might not even be half of a fan. Sometimes Naledge gets dry on his songs. Regardless, the Kid Daytona being on it made me give the track a try. Naledge finally displays a bit of prowess on wax, while Daytona introduces us to a much faster flow and hits the track with line after line. 'Out to Lunch' is going to be featured on the Kidz new album 'Land of Make Believe' (title is a little mehhhhhh), coming out next Tuesday, the 9th...

I haven't seen any concerts recently that I've really been interested in. Oops, scratch that. Curren$y, Styles P and Raekwon already make 'Better Recognize' a highlight on my calendar. For the heads out there that dig the trap-rap stars, OJ da Juiceman and Waka Flocka (apparently he's actually kinda nice?) are performing. And for all you blog-dwellers and Ivy-Leaguers, Kidz in the Hall and Donnis are set to rock the stage too. Best believe if I wasn't up to my neck in exams, I'd be in New York on Wednesday night. Hopefully you are though. Shoutout to OnSmash, NahRight, The Stadium and 10 Deep for throwing this one together...
